Panarea boating holiday in the Aeolian Islands, Sicily
The island of Panarea lies just 10 nautical miles southwest of Stromboli and 9nm northeast of Lipari. The Sicilian towns of Portorosa and Milazzo are just south of Panarea. The town of Tropea in Calabria is 39nm to the east:
Panarea is the smallest island of the archipelago and is flanked by several smaller islands. Panarea has a small port, numerous buoys, and sites for anchorage. Within walking distance from the port are several stores, restaurants, and during July and August numerous bars and discos
To NOT miss: the streets and towns of Panarea are vey quaint, charming, and peaceful; only electric vehicles are permitted on the island. A tour around the island by boat is the best way to enjoy the Cala Junco and Marine reserve. The offshore islands, in particular Basiluzzo and the bubbly, sulfuric waters of Bottaro. Hike to the prehistoric ruins on the P. Milazzese, either from the beach at the Cala Junco or directly from the city. The ruins are located up on a plateau of land with steep cliff drops on both sides and incredible views. The main festival is that of San Pietro on June 29th
