Spain and the Balearic Island Archipelago

The Balearic Island archipelago is located in the Mediterranean Sea off the Southeast Coast of Spain, and is comprised of the following islands: Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera and Cabrera.

Mallorca is the largest island of the Archipelago. Palma de Mallora is the capital as well as the primary starting point for yacht charters. The island of Mallorca has numerous ports and small Bays with sandy beaches, including the popular Playa d'Es Trenc. The Northern part of the island is covered with the Mountain Range "La Serra de Tramuntana". The Island has numerous nature reserves, which preserve its rich ecosystems.

Menorca is known for its peaceful and calm atmosphere. Pine and wind olives are the primary vegetation. The Island has countless natural beauty to explore and does not suffer from the swarming of tourist that is common in the other Islands. Mahon is the capital of Menorca and has the largest natural port of the Mediterranean, 6 km long and 1 km wide with three small islands.

Ibiza and Formentera are famous throughout Europe for their super-hip nightlife. The Islands also have an unforgetable natural beauty and notable archeological sites. The UNESCO Nature Reserve of the "Saline" includes the small offshore islands of Freus (Penjats, Espardell and Espalmador) and the lagoon and salt marshes of Ibiza and Formentera.

Cabrera is part of the National Park of the Balearic Islands (designated the 12th of April 1991). The waters of the Island are home to one of the best preserved ecosystems in the Mediterranean.
