The course is designed for those with past experience (introductory course) that would like to improve on their basic skills.
Glossary (nautical terms): nomenclature
The wind: real and apparent, breeze, wind strength
Handling Under Sail: Sail balance, reducing sail area, increasing sail area, using the gennaker.
Safety onboard: Avoiding collisions, running aground, man-overboard recovery, abandon ship. The radio, international codes and signals.
Rough-weather Sailing: preparing the boat, taking action, heaving-to, hying a-hull, running downwind, using a sea anchor.
Anchoring and Mooring: securing to a mooring, anchoring equipment, choosing an anchorage, dropping an anchor. |
